VISIT
What can I expect when I visit your church?
Our parking lot is wrapped around to the back of the building, which we think is kind of weird too… because you drive past what appears to be the main entrance with a number of stairs. You can come in those doors too but the better parking and accessible entrance is around the other side of the building.
Either way, when you enter St. James, there will be someone to greet you; behind a mask of cause! They may be an official Greeter or fellow attender. Don't be afraid to ask questions; almost everybody can help you unless they are new too!
When you enter the worship space another person will greet you; a sides-person, if you will. There ae projected screens within the worship space for you to follow the service.
The service begins when the Rector welcomes everyone!
KIDS & YOUTH
What about my kids?
No matter the age, we provide engaging interactive environments for your kids
We do have a nursery and Sunday school. The children attend the first portion of the service and we invite them to the front for a Children’s time after the Gathering of the Community. They then go to Sunday School with our awesome teachers or the nursery with super care givers.
Children are also most welcome to stay with you in the service if that is your preference. We have activity packages hanging on a holder that is in the shape of a cross in the Narthex/Foyer. Just ask one of our greeters or anybody else where they are!
St. James Regathering FAQ
Frequently asked questions regarding service gathering
Do I have to wear a mask at church?
Yes, in compliance with the Waterloo Regional bylaw, masks are required with the exception of children under 3 or those with medical conditions.
How do I enter and exit the building?
You will be able to enter through the main entrance doors. There will be friendly faces (behind masks) to assist you. Please remember to keep 6 feet between family units for social distancing. We also encourage people not to gather in the halls; at the conclusion of the service, you will wait for the usher/coordinator to dismiss your seating section before exiting.
Can I pick my spot within the church to seat?
Ushers will direct you to a seat in an open row, safely distanced from others. In order to allow as many people as possible, you need to sit where the usher directs you. If you have a concern, like distance of the screens, then please let the usher know and they will try to accommodate you accordingly.
Will there be childcare available?
Families are encouraged to stay together in the building. Currently there is no in-person service for our kids & youths. We do have online zoom service that the whole family can join on Sundays at 10:30 AM if interested.
Am I allowed to sing?
Congregational singing is not permitted at this time.
Will hand sanitizer be available for use?
Yes, hand sanitizer will be available and you are encouraged to use it upon entering and when exiting the building.
Can I come to the service even if I have not registered in advance?
Due to capacity restrictions, we need to know of your attendance in advance. If you are not able to register with us, please join us online to watch our pre-recorded service immediately after the seundat service.
What can I do with my offering?
There will be a designated place for your offering on the Welcome Centre desk. Online giving is encouraged if possible.
