Wanted: A new Music Director

Learn more  about the position below

Are you energetic, a people person, and looking for a new start? Then you are in the right place!

Located in the Eastern part of the previous Municipality of Hespeler and now the amalgamated City of Cambridge, St. James’ Church relocated to its current location some 30 years ago to better serve the current and future congregations needs. We are one of five Anglican Churches within the Municipality Cambridge and is a member of the Deanery of Waterloo. St James’ offers a modern climate-controlled facility with ample parking in a traditional setting.

As we work through the need to seek a new music director, with a varied approach to music at St. James’, we are looking for an energetic and passionate Music Director to lead our community’s musical worship. The Director will work closely with clergy, the church choir, and volunteer musicians.

The congregation is wonderfully comfortable with traditional Anglican worship: hymns from the hymnbook Common Praise, led with organ, piano and choir. In recent years, St. James’ has also embraced various styles of contemporary music. Once a month, a service is organized on a Sunday morning, featuring instruments, vocals, and contemporary praise music. The Music Director would be encouraged to bring a spirit of experimentation and creativity to the work of integrating various musical traditions and perspectives within the life of the congregation.

Our facility hosts a Digital Organ, Grand Piano, and one upright piano for the use of multiple practise sections.
